I've got another week here. I see that Hacienda Ajijic has lamb and rabbit, things I don't find in Maz. So, is it open every day, dinner only, or lunch and dinner? If I take a cab from Chapala, will the chofer know it, or can you give me directions? Thanks. I also would like to go to Jardin de Ninette for mussels. TOB won't let them post the daily specials, but if anyone knows what's up for next week, I would love to hear! Also, their hours. I want to make one trip to Tango. I think they are closed Mon and open every other night. Correct?
I have read John's list and it is interesting but doesn't tell you neat stuff like Paninos is not open on Saturday. Well, I ate at
Tony's instead and it was ok, but disappointing.
John says "I am not a food critic and many of you may disagree." I don't disagree at all! He isn't a food critic.
Tell me where you thinkk I should eat for the next week, with hours and directions, please! Thanks a lot. Dee

Here's the skinny.
Tango's is closed on Tuesdays.
Panino's in only open M-F.
Go have a good meal at Pedro's (open M-Thurs)
or Roberto's (open every day but Monday)
and forgeddabout Tony's , except the fish, which they do well.
Also, Try Telares, almost across from Tango. Nice garden and good chef.

Those who disagree will no doubt hop in.

I don't know about this one. Is it on John's approved list or are you going rouge (rogue)?

The proper name for Telares is Los Telares and it is on johnnyboy's approved list. While, there may have been some ownership changes through the years, we started eating there in 2000 and have gone back a number of times since. They have very unique designators for the banos or at least they used to.

Not going rogue here........who would dare reconmmend a restaurant not on THE LIST? lol.

Yes, it's Los Telares and when it's good, it's very good. Sometimes they have chefglitches, but right now, it's in the good phase. Beautiful garden setting.

And I have thought for years that Shrimp was food? Do they fall into the "fresh turkeys not available in Mexico" category?

I had drunch, (I guess you call it at 5PM?), at Los Telares today. A nice experience. Went to Ajijic on the spur of the moment and planned to do a bit of window shopping on Colon and get dinner at Tango. Saw the garden at Telares and realized I hadn't had lunch and was hungry. I ordered crabcakes from the Monday special seafood menu, even tho I am not fond of Mexican crab. Well, the crab is pretty bland, as I expected, but I loved the big fat crab cakes, creamy inside and crusty brown outside, served on a bed of creamy corn sauce. I piled their lovely green table sauce on each bite and it was lovely. They know how to cook! I want to go back there for a proper dinner, but of course I have to do Pedro's too, and... so many places, so little time. (Crabcakes, $73, wine $45 per glass).
