Have you seen any of these in use in Mexico? They are the norm in many Asian countries, much more reliable and energy efficient than the central ducted, window box or portables you usually see.

They have been available in Mexico for many years now - and truly are efficient and economic.

Yeah, like when was the last time you were in Mexico?

You should be banned for asking such a stupid question.

I bet it was sooner than any one needed A/C on the South BC coast, for more than 2 days straight.

Mini splits are used everywhere on the coast...they are incredibly efficient but will still put you into the DAC rate for electricity.
We have three of them...each with its own compressor. It's been so hot here lately that I couldn't imagine living here without them. We have the ones that also have a dehumidify only setting...sometimes all you need to be comfortable is to get the wet out of the air.

A cranky old wood woodworker - now there's a surprise! Been over 2.5 years - too busy, don't care, family & business responsibilities, one ton energy suckers in place, compared to a happy life, happy friends, living large. Should sort the damn place out and sell it - sister agrees. Mexico, Schmexico - its a big world brother Tamal. Adios!
