Culture Vulture. Ran across this great website which is a legacy of Ernesto Zadillo, who ended the Presidency in 2000 after the PRI was in for 72 years. It will give newcomers to Mexico a flavor of the PRI philosophies and intellectual underpinnings of Mexican politics over ten years ago and beyond. It is in English.

I think the terms "liberal" and "conservative" have been hijacked. Neither really means what it used to, so they are useless where politics are concerned. More to the point would be to consider the source and vote for the appropriate candidate when the time comes. Of course, that implies that there will be a candidate that has not been "bought" by one faction or another. I guess I have become rather a cynic of late as no one seems to be able to get elected without being influenced by somebody else's money. Phooey!
That said, it certainly can't hurt to be as informed as possible and that includes the history... which we are told we are doomed to repeat... no wonder I'm a cynic. Lizzy
