We just returned from Canada via the Columbia crossing on Wed 2nd Sept. There were new customs agents, very young and very polite. Every car that came thru while we were there got a Red light. The new aduana's went thru all of our things, but we paid duty on nothing. As I said before they were very polite, but wanted to look at everything. Also the Army was very much in evidence. At the Banjercito wicket I was informed that from now on the import stickers are for a 1 year duration, and you can no longer leave Mexico without turning it in and getting a new one on your return.

Interesting about the vehicle permit! We crossed back into the U.S. on August 29th and when we went to have the permit voided on the way out, the girl tried to talk us out of it! We did know better.

FM3 holders have always been entitled to one year on their permits. This is not new. Not all clerks understand this. I had to call a supervisor to get one year when I first came here 9 years ago.
