I need some advise from Gary or/and Sparks.

I now have the need to save files to DVD.....(avi, DivX, MPEG4) are those all the same?.(windows movie)

The files are to big for CD, and I would prefer to convert? them to DVD? than split them in 2.

BUT CAN I AT LEAST SAVE TO DVD AND CONVERT LATER? as DATA PERHAPS?

PS, I don't want to leave them on the hard drive!!!!

I've never done this since I burn DVD's and have software
You should be able to play any of those formats with VideoLan
http://www.videolan.org/
A smart DVD player may even play the original format to your TV
-----------------------------

Copy files and folders to a CD
Insert a blank, writable CD into the CD recorder. Use one of the following:
Recordable compact disc (CD-R)
Rewritable compact disc (CD-RW)
With rewritable CDs, you can copy data to and erase data from the CD multiple times.
Click Start, and then click My Computer.
Click the files or folders that you want to copy to the CD.
To select more than one file, hold down the CTRL key while you click the files you want. Then, under File and Folder Tasks, click Copy this file, Copy this folder, or Copy the selected items.
If the files are located in My Pictures, under Picture Tasks, click Copy to CD or Copy all items to CD, and then go to Step 5.
In the Copy Items dialog box, click the CD recording drive, and then click Copy.
In My Computer, double-click the CD recording drive. Windows displays a temporary area where the files are located before they are copied to the CD. Verify that the files and folders that you intend to copy to the CD appear under Files Ready to be Written to the CD.
Under CD Writing Tasks, click Write these files to CD. Windows displays the CD Writing Wizard. Follow the instructions in the wizard.

The CDs are 700MB and the files are 800MB, so Gary splits the large files.

I am able to watch DivX files on the computer and on a CD/DVD player.

I am not able to copy the downloaded files to DVD, not even as backup files.

You need a software program to 'compress' your video files. Of course these programs are available from the 'usual sources' - and you have to know the names of the people recommending and/or virus screening software and/ or running a program in a 'sandbox' - sandboxie.com - which is a shell around any program, including a web browser so that your system and boot files cannot be accessed.

Here is a link, from a name I trust, on rapidshare - it is free but you have to wait a while for the free download to kick in.
http://rapidshare.com/files/242452925/Amadis_AVIDIVXWMVMPEG....www.hoaxfree.com.rar

password: http://www.hoaxfree.com if required

Copy a copy of 'the patch' to the program file folder. Select patch and then select the amadis.exe. I just rechecked everything out -works fine, no virus/trojans.

Sorry ... thought you had 4gig DVD's. I'd suggest buying some if you have a DVD R/W drive

I have 2 DVD burners, on a windows computer.

I am not able to convert (avi, Mpeg4), to (DVD, Mpeg2) to burn on DVD.

This program converts mpeg4 to VCD - or nearly anything. All software of this type is based on some form of compression. Mpeg4 to Divx would be your best option if your player supports divx disks. Divx gives the best picture at a medium size compression.
