Economy Secretary Gerardo Ruiz Mateos on Wednesday defended the government's decision to send 45,000 soldiers across Mexico to fight the cartels, a day after hundreds of people blocked bridges to the United States to demand that the Army withdraw.

Ruiz Mateos predicted that if Mexico gave up its fight against the cartels, "the next president of the republic would be a drug dealer."

Even with approximately 3650 new troops in Juarez, the following hit the new wires:

http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/29698933/

Our Albuquerque Sunday Edition had a front page story re: Juarez situation. Last Wed. a reporter and photographer from the paper were preparing to meet with Enrique Torres, a Juarez lawyer and spokesperson for the JOINT OPERATION CHIHUAHUA when Enrique was assassinated!

Mexico imposes air barrier against narco

Points to the SSP that any aircraft entering the airspace from the south of Mexico should report airports in Cozumel Tapachula or otherwise, is considered a suspicious aircraft.

Security systems and the fight against drug trafficking in Mexico has imposed an air barrier to prevent drugs from Central and South America go north for the U.S. market

Undersecretary of Prevention, Linking Human Rights and the federal Public Security Secretariat, Facundo Rosas said that starting this year, of any aircraft entering the airspace from the south by the Mexican standard is to do at the airports in Cozumel, Quintana Roo, and Tapachula, Chiapas.

He further stated that when the pilot of any aircraft, whether commercial, private or cargo, breach of this provision becomes a suspect aircraft and therefore must make a thorough review once it arrives at any other airport in the country.

Facundo Rosas said that this would have inhibited the drug traffickers who try to lead by air drugs, particularly cocaine from South American countries like Colombia, Venezuela, Peru or Bolivia.

He explained that these actions have been securing major drug shipments, and recalled the great that have been seized at airports such as Campeche and others further north.

During a workshop with representatives of News media, federal officials announced that the road has also made the move to close down drug traffickers and organized crime.

In that sense said that the funnel where it maintains an important monitoring by the road is the Isthmus of Tehuantepec.

The area is busy with vehicular roads by trucks of goods, tourists and all activity that connects the center of the country with the Yucatan Peninsula.

In this case, he said, has been successful surveillance imposed by the Federal Police, in all that territory, as has been achieved to detect a large number of people smugglers or "coyotes" who lead the Central and South American crossing so the country illegally with the interest of reaching the United States.

Also with these actions is like land has slowed traffic in arms, both entering from the south toward the center of the country, but most come from the United States to the southern continent, and in many cases, the form of the drug.

Facundo Rosas said the weapons normally travel in the opposite direction to the drug, because it is part of the payment, which is also strengthening the infrastructure in any country in the criminal world.

Visiting the Zapatistas

Quote:
For years, visitors to San Cristóbal de las Casas, the colonial capital of the Chiapas Highlands in southern Mexico, have been offered the same set of outings by local tour agencies: mountain gorges, gem-like lakes, the Maya communities of Chamula and Zinacantán with their colourful textiles and disconcerting mix of pre-Hispanic and Catholic traditions. Now you can find a new option: “Visit Oventic and San Andrés,” signs say, “the heart of the Zapatistas.”

This is an execellant article!!! :ugeek:
