I'll spare y'all my story of three years in San Miguel and just suggest that for those whose impression of the town is based on one or two ashole encounters, I'd suggest visiting the fine local website: fallinginlovewithsanmiguel.com, run by two down-to- earth women who moved there six or seven years ago and love it. No pretense, no b.s., none of the snobbery. They just finished a book with Rolly on moving to Mexico. After reading a few of Carol's blogs, you might get a different picture of life in San Miguel.
Similarly, you'd get a one picture of Lakeside by heading for the Lake Chapala Society, and quite another if you had a few beers with our very own Pedro.
The artisans' market in SMA is a real treat. Harry's bar is to be avoided. The pizza at Gombo's is outstanding.
