I bought quite a few items featured in Spark's photos to decorate Christmas trees. Although in Tonalá, not Tzintzuntzan.
A great many traditional or signature-type crafts are hand-crafted, in particular villages/parts of México. Then exported (retailed) in countless other outlets.
Like when you're waiting for a few hours in a line-up in a busy border crossing:)
The time, we visited Tzintzuntzan, and spend the night, camped across the street from the police station, I was impressed by the wood carvings in the shops.
Anyone got photos of those particular(I think) local handicrafts?
