Has anyone stayed in Mazatlan during Carnival?

Sure, I have lived here for 7 yrs and have seen all of them during that time. Olas Altas is very noisy, as several bands play late at night into the morning. Other than that, the town is crowded with tourists, but just fine. When I lived in Olas Altas with a bandstand practically under my window, I used to stay with friends across town for a few days. Now, I am 2 blocks away and the noise doesn't bother me. I love the fireworks display and the parades. Seldom join the late night crowds on the malecon for dancing/drinking. WAY too many people! I think the city does a very good job of security and clean up.
Come on over and join the party next year. Stay somewhere other than Olas Altas if you want to go to sleep before 3AM.

The last time I was in Mazatlan during Carnaval we stayed outside Olas Atlas. However, a member of one of the bands lived on that street and about 6am the whole band came marching up the street playing with gusto. What the hell, if you can't beat 'em, join 'em. We had an early cerveza with them.
