If she does not want to 'move up' ... why not just wait out the term
See my earlier post. Sexism won out this time. Even Sarah Barracuda couldn't overcome it.
But she's not in the spotlight now. The only time she catches heat is when she's running for something. She didn't quit because she's ineffective in Alaska and she's not on the national scene like she shouldn't be
Another week, another on-camera breakdown by a Republican governor: In a rambling, borderline bughouse decoupage of sports metaphors and intimations that the forces of darkness were running her out of public life, Sarah Palin announced Friday that she had decided to step down as Alaska's governor, and would be leaving office on July 26.
At one point, she suggested she was quitting because people had made cruel remarks about her baby Trig, and at another, she seemed to be saying that she was being forced out for being too effective, and also because various ethics investigations into her administration were wasting public dollars. Listening to her talk in furious circles, it was hard to say whether a) some new scandal was about to break, b) she'd had enough of politics, thanks, or c) on the contrary, she was only getting started and was quitting to run for president. With a $7 million book advance and supporters who would love her regardless, she in any case didn't need the job, and my money is on d) she just plain felt like it.
"Then, in closing, she quoted Gen. Douglas MacArthur: "We are not retreating, we are advancing in another direction.''
Now as a Canadian - that statement, on the eve of America's most patriotic event, has me worried. Is an invasion from Alaska imminent? There are not too many directions too choose from out of Alaska. Better polish up my mukluks and blunderbuss.

I bet the Palin grifters are close to being caught doing something else unethical or criminal and she quit hoping that will take the heat off. She's done something and doesn't want it known. Sarah Plain would never quit to protect her family. Do you remember she went into labor in Texas and caught a plane to Alaska knowing she could deliver at anytime? That is not the action of a woman who has her child's welfare her priority. If Palin was so worried about her oldest daughter's pregnancy and how the public would react, she never would have accepted the offer to run with McCain. Palin subjects her children to ridicule and then blames everyone else but herself.
I have read that she has been asked to move to California.
She won't see Russia from there. Seriously, she got really bad press from Vanity Fair recently:
"The top McCain aides who had tried hard to work with Palin—Steve Schmidt, the chief strategist; Nicolle Wallace, the communications ace; and Tucker Eskew, her traveling counselor—were barely on speaking terms with her, and news organizations were reporting that anonymous McCain aides saw Palin as a “diva” and a “whack job.” Many of the details that led to such assessments have remained obscure. But in a recent series of conversations, a range of people from the McCain-Palin campaign, including members of the high command, agreed to elaborate on how a match they thought so right ended up going so wrong."
This caused a major brawl of words within the top ranks of the conservative movement:
"William Kristol, the editor of The Weekly Standard and at times an informal adviser to Sen. John McCain, touched off the latest back-and-forth Tuesday morning with a post on his magazine's blog criticizing the Todd Purdum-authored Palin story and pointing a finger at Steve Schmidt, McCain's campaign manager."
"Asked about the accusation, Schmidt fired back in an e-mail: "I'm sure John McCain would be president today if only Bill Kristol had been in charge of the campaign."

I guess I was right. AustinC you need to become more cynical about politicians especially Republicans.

Yesterday this diarist was the first to post on the reporting of David Shuster at MSNBC regarding the Palin resignation. Today this diarist updates David Shuster's groundbreaking reporting in the MSNBC's doggard pursuit of the truth as to what is really behind Palin's resignation. It turns out that David Shuster was able to confirm a criminal fraud investigation wherein she's alleged to have steered lucrative contracts to SBS in a quid pro quo

Yesterday this diarist was the first to report on the Kos of the groundbreaking reporting of David Shuster exposing Sarah Palin's cover up efforts in the Schmidt emails. Today's diary is an update of David Shuster's continued groundbreaking reporting wherein he synthesizes numerous reports from Alaska and the Huffington Post along with other media outlets, which reveals valuable insights into the forced resignation of Sarah Palin due to multiple fraud investigations in the state of Alaska, as revealed in the video posted above. This comes on the heels of David Shuster's reporting on the 2nd July wherein MSNBC helped to spearhead the publication of the former McCain staffer Steve Schmidt's emails. Whereupon one day later on 3rd July Sarah Palin announced that she would resign the Alaska Governorship.
In a poll conducted by this diarist yesterday July 3rd, out of 322 respondents, 215 Kossaks felt that the Schmidt emails were a contributing factor in the forced resignation of Sarah Palin. The current poll on today's diary asks if MSNBC David Shuster's continued dogged reporting of fraud investigations of Sarah Palin can be viewed as a still further contributing factor of the forced Palin resignation.

Further today this diary publishes the groundbreaking reporting of MSNBC David Shuster's and the Huffington Post as well as other progressive media outlets, that all collectively point to the fact that the aforementioned pending fraud investigation in Alaska against the Palins constitute still further evidence of corruption. As such clearly this cannot simply be a case wherein Palin merely resigned the lower paid office of the Alaska Governorship in order to capitalize on her national celebrity to become an even bigger multi-millionaire and bigger darling of the far religious right, than what she already is today. As such we would do very well to remember that Sarah Palin was found that she had wrongfully abused her power in the trooper gate scandal, and that she has tried to influence McCain staffers to make fraudulent representations, that her husband in fact was not a member of the Alaska Independent Party, as revealed by the Schmidt email publication, in a clear case where the sole reason for the existence of the Independent Party is to provide for the secession of the state of Alaska from the United States.
What emerges is a picture of Sarah Palin as a corrupt public official, who has abused her office, abused the power of the Alaska Governorship, who is under current criminal fraud investigation, has had numerous familial scandals, and is now using the 4th July news cycle in a narcissistic attempt to wrap herself in the American flag. Sarah Palin is headed right where she belongs out of office and in private life, facing possible pending criminal indictments.
"That's not part of their platform and he was only a member BC Independent Alaskans too often check that Alaska Independent box on voter registrations thinking it just means non partisan. He caught his error when changing our address and checked the right box. I still want it fixed." [October 15th 2008, Gov. Palin email to Steve Schmidt, Source CBS News]

Schmidt reply to Sarah Palin:
"Secession, it is their entire reason for existence. A cursory examination of the website shows that the party exists for the purpose of seceding from the Union. That is the stated goal on the front page of the website. Our records indicate that Todd was a member for seven years. If this is incorrect then we need to understand the discrepancy. The statement you are suggesting be released would be inaccurate. [sic] The inaccuracy [sic] would bring greater media attention to this matter and be a distraction. According to your staff there have been no media inquiries into this and you received no questions about it during your interviews. If you are asked about it you should smile and say many Alaskans who love their country join the party because it speaks [sic] to a tradition of political independence. Todd loves his country. We will not put out a statement and inflame this and create a situation where John has to address this." [October 15th 2008, Steve Schmidt email to Gov. Palin, Source CBS News]
I wasn't aware that she is to be charged with criminal acts of corruption. Simply resigning can't save her from that. If the charge is true, then she belongs in jail just like Blagojevich. Why though, if the Dems had this kind of serious stuff against her, did they spend so much time attacking the family?
Which "Dems" attacked her family? Are you saying news commentators such as Olberman or late night TV hosts like Letterman are "Dems"? I don't recall hearing any elected Democrats or Democrat party officials attacking her family. Could you clarify?
On his TV show, early in the Clinton administration, Limbaugh put up a picture of Socks, the White House cat, and asked, "Did you know there's a White House dog?" Then he put up a picture of Chelsea Clinton, who was 13 years old at the time
