Mexican Candidate and His Family Killed

Jose Francisco Fuentes Esperon, 43, a former university dean, had kicked off his campaign for the State Oct. 18 election. He was a member of the Institutional Revolutionary Party, (PRI) which has strong support in Tabasco.

Mr. Fuentes Esperon was shot in the neck, local news media reported, while his wife, Lilian Arguelles Beltran, was shot in the head. His two sons, ages 8 and 10, were asphyxiated.

President Felipe Calderon called Governor Andres Granier Saturday to pledge the federal government’s assistance in finding the killers.

Mexico needs to insist that Obama give it the money or the private protection companies like Black Water to protect politicians as the U.S. promised. Killing people not associated with the drug business, especially politicians and their families, is going way too far.

Villa Hermosa has big problems with the narcs and some of the road leading to Villa Hermosa are dangerous.
The Villa Hermosa Vera Cruz road is a major drug corridor according to what I read from the papers in Tuxtla, last year so it is not surprising that there is more killing in that area.

Villa Hermosa to Palenque has seen some problems as well and Palenque has problems with the narcs as well. We drope upon a scene where the army was arriving, some of the guys from one large expensive pick up had shot and killed the other guys ffrom another expensive pick up.If you se the large shiny pick-up when down there, get out of the ay and do not stickaround. The head of the drug enforcement had to get out of Tapachula as he had too many enemies he ended in Palenque and was shot in the middle of the day on Main street a week later. The whole thing did not appear in many papers, I think Palenque was trying to preserve its tourists business. WHen we return from Palenque to San Cristobal we were seriously search when leaving town and same when we arriv in San Cristobal.

It is difficult to know who is concted with the business many politicians ar so who knows. That crime sounds like a revenge of some time by some group probably associated one way or anotehr with the drug business.
