We still haven't had our first frost up here. Switching into winter mode though, had a nice fire on the deck last night and something I hadn't had for twenty years - hot buttered rum. I bought a jar of premade 'paste' - but there are lots of recipes on the internet. Dark rum of course. It was sure good, reminding of the years when I used to like sailing. One internet site said to get the proper caramel flavor, douse a red hot poker into the drink for one minute.

Copy that in my neck of the woods!

Here is my recipe: Get a jug of apple cider, quarter an orange and a apple or 2 or 3. Grab a handful of cinnamon sticks to 'your' taste. Get out the whole cloves, some nut meg, allspice, what ever floats your boat..... Then,..... Add some REAL BUTTER to 'your' taste of course!

Put all those goodies in a pot or crock pot and,... S..L..O..W..L..Y... bring to a gentle yet bubbly simmer!

Now about the essence and ambience of the 'perfect' Hot Rum Toddy...Go find your favorite or most expensive mug and warm it w/ hot water!

Then get cheap rum, or the most expensive rum you can afford...Maybe even Spiced Rum or as they say in Mexico 'Ron'. Pour as much or as little as your little heart desires into the pre warmed mug, add the "one of a kind creation" You Will Never Ever Be Able To Duplicate Again" to you fav mug.

All that is left is to pour as MUCH or as little into YOUR PERFECT CREATION. Garnish w/ a cinnamon stick.

Then, relax and be the King or Queen of Your Kingdom, until there is none left!! Ya might want to double this recipe to make your 'Pamper Yourself ' last as long as possible!!

Enjoy! Life is way to short so make the best of what time you have and forget about what Coulda, Shoulda, and Mighta Been! Enjoy Now!!!!

All sound good to me but shussh's sounds like work. Especially since Bodega has been out of gin (ginebra) for a week but have plenty of tonic (agua quina o quinada).

Don't use fine stuff for mixed drinks ... just moderate that tastes good

No frost yet here on 'the lake'
