Vern sent me a link of his video

Hurricane Rick generated some unusual waves that made it necessary to keep the small boats of the local fishing fleet safe on shore. There are some pipe lines, waves battering the rock that a restaurant sits on and some brave soles attempting skim-boarding. The videos were taken about 10:00AM on 10/18/2009. Another event of the Mother Nature type: A magnitude 4.2 earthquake hit Melaque at 8:35 AM. The epicenter was in the center of the bay where I took the videos the same morning. There were two tremors, and our house shook, but no damage as far as I know.

Rick hit us in Maz pretty bad, but winds were down to (I am told) a max of 73mph by then. The damage mostly consisted of uprooted trees, various signs and other things flying around, flooding, and lots of power outages. And less fortunate people, living in shacks, obviously are suffering. Not good, but when you are expecting a hurricane, you breathe a sigh of relief that it didn't happen! I was lucky. My power went off about 3AM, but was restored at 4PM yesterday. My patio is filled with tree branches, no big deal. I live on a slight hillside, so while I had some puddles in the living room (it has happened before, can't yet figure out how the water gets in, I will work on it!) I was snug and cozy. CFE did a wonderful job of restoring power to most of the city yesterday. I understand that there still are a few areas where power still is out tonight. Noroeste newspaper has some pics (see the fotogaleria near the top of this page) and some videos (scroll down to find them).
