Arrested Development - Ex-Pats Mexico

There will be a very interesting special election held Nov. 3 to replace the vacant Congressional seat in NY's 23rd district. 3 candidates are running: Democrat Bill Owens, Republican Dede Scozzafava, and Conservative Party Doug Hoffman.

Newt Gringrich of note is standing by Scozzafava.

Dick's Arm(e)y of wingnut teabaggers are currently swarming upper New York State supporting non-GOP Hoffman with a clear message to the moderate, ideologically impure Republicans: "Resistance is futile. You will be assimilated!"

This is a very interesting situation for the GOP. As it is, less and less voters identify with the GOP. Do the wingnuts believe that an all-out wingnut GOP will increase the party's general popularity?

Do the wingnuts believe that trust by the general public in an all-out wingnut GOP will increase? I am sure there are those within the DNC that are hoping that a new national wingnut party, the Conservative Party, comes into being from all this. That will make their job of keeping the Democrat Party dominant for the long haul much easier.
