It is human nature to be proud of where one lives but to exclaim that one's community is the best of the best certainly rings of elitism and arrogance to me! Why doesn't this surprise me coming from a wantabe snob?

On chapala.com, someone made mention of the similarity between the floorplans in this community and offhandedly called them townhouses. Johnnyboy's retort was that they could not be townhouse since they weren't 2 or 3 stories. NEWS FLASH JOHNNYBOY: townhouses can be single story homes. Townhouses aka patio homes are built all over the Southwest and West Coast as single story units and they can be 4000 or more square feet!

PS: Additional info provided by one of the better known members of this forum raises the question of whether this "premier gated community" is even within the limits of Ajijic. If not, there seems to be some false advertising here!

You know our Johnnyboy has problems. He needs to believe that his is the best, only the finest, the premier.

You and I are just jealous because we can't dine daily at the finest Ajijic restaurants and live in the finest, premier ghetto, er, community.

I'd be interested in a premier type gated community. Where is that?

Los Arroyos Sur is a gated CONDO development (common land and services) west of Villa Nova. It's 8 or so very nice single story homes on (IMHO) small lots. It's up the hill from the Carretera so I would assume that each has a nice view. We looked at one of the homes but, for us, the lot was too small and too close to the adjacent houses. It was a very nice house and I'm sure they all are.

Los Arroyos Sur is a gated Condominium community of 19 homes. These homes range from 2300 sf to 5000 sf. The average home is in the 3200 sf range. Every home has a different floor plan and was customized by each owner. Every home looks different from the outiside.

The lot sizes are NOT small for a Condominium. The range for the smallest is 509 sq mtrs. Only one like that, but most lots range from 600 to over 800 sq mtrs. 6 lots are over 800 sq mtrs.

Yes, I am very proud of where I live and all of us who participate and help the Board of Directors are dedicated to the upkeep of our property to keep up our values. I help by being Facilities Maintenance and taking care of getting quotes from all contractors and handling the gardener. I'm best suited for this since I was a Condominium Manager in the US.
