I was surprised (though not sure why I should be) to find that the USDA sticker on an organic tomato said it was grown in Mexico. I suppose that Mexico, with its growing conditions, is an ideal location for organic produce. Most of the stuff we get up here in the winter comes from Mexico already, so getting USDA certification makes sense. Doesn't mean the tomato tastes any better than the non-organic ones, but one can hope.
By the way, this wasn't a Roma type, rather a standard slicer. I know there are problems growing non-Roma tomatoes in some areas, but I have no idea where this one came from in Mexico.
