Those floating accordion stairs are impressive and I'm sure not as delicate as they look

The scoop on Pasta tiles.

A day without sunshine is no day at all.

Sparks, the stairs are pretty sturdy. Lots of Mexican rebar and concrete. I'm glad we don't have earthquakes here though.

Looking good Jonna. What wood species did you pick for the kitchen?

I'm going to have to ask again Tío. I can't remember what it's called. The cabinets are made from some type of treated furniture grade plywood and then there is a veneer of the wood I can't remember. The finish has a lot of red in it, the guy did a really nice job on that it almost looks like you could reach into the wood and the grain is beautiful. Cost was a factor in not using solid wood, I'm happy so far with how they look. This is the only pic I have of any of it. These are the drawers in our closet and are the only pieces that are installed so far. He's also building an island in the kitchen, the cabinets under the counters in kitchen and baths and several other pieces. At this point, I think the cabinetry will be the last thing completed.

Thank you, Sparks, for providing this outlet for those of us who love having access to information and gossip about Mexico.

Jonna and Mimi's house is spectacular. We were there in December, they weren't :)

Have you been to the Picasso exhibit yet?

It is darn chilly up here in Oregon

Thanks Ron, we are so close to moving in I can't believe it. The devil is in the details though and these final details are dragging.

I haven't been to the Picasso exhibit yet, I've been going crazy every day with little stuff. It's on until March though so I feel I have some time. Theresa went the other day and enjoyed it.

It finally got a little warmer here, we had the furnace on in the RV when it got into the 60's. Even the dogs were cold. That norte seems to be gone and so far another hasn't blown in. I'm loving the last few days without the big nightime drop in temps. I'd be happier if I never saw the low side of 75f again, that's as cold as I can stand it.

Well Jonna, I remember when you first posted pictures of your house (years ago??? ) with architect drawings and comments on what 'this was' and what 'this would be' ... and I have to say I have really enjoyed watching the progress from duckling to swan!

This is the type of project I would love to have done myself, but my husband is not up to it ..... so we ended up buying a house (approx 50 yrs old) and doing it bit by bit by dusty...agonizing.....loud bit !

So, thanks for sharing your house and allowing me and others to live vicariously through at least some of the highs/lows!

Can't wait to see the finished swan!

Last detail ........ will you be giving your house a name? (how about El Cisne)

Sally,
You're obviously just taking an interest in Jonna/Mimi's lives.
The house rennovation in Merida is scarcely? a year old.

Although they've owned the condo in Akumal for many years.
And the Merida house already has a name.

After the only female goddess in the Mayan pantheon.
