Yes, we named it after Ixchel in a combination Spanish (Casa) and Mayan (Ixchel) name. We did this last year when looking at some of the reproductions done by a very talented artist in a small town in Quintana Roo. He made the plaque for us.

El Cisne would have been a good name as well. If you want to see the before and after pics, at least through Dec as I haven't put any up for Jan yet, go to my public albums on Picassa here.

It's been a long project, we started construction on Jan 21, 2008, so we are just over the 1 year mark. I could have moved in before this but I have 2 things I want before I do. I want the garage door to be secure so I can lock the house up and let the Mayan guy who is now staying there as a guard go back home, and I want an internet connection. Telmex was there yesterday all afternoon and now the electrician/plumber has to run the wires from the roof into the house. Plus, no one seems to know where the infinitum modem is, or even if it was ever delivered. This kind of stuff can make me a little crazy but I'm trying to stay cool.

It makes me crazy because it is such small stuff. We could lock the door into the garage and secure the house EXCEPT that they put the iron bar that goes into the floor and holds one side of the door - on the wrong side! It's inside the garage. So, it matters not if the door is locked as you have only to raise that bar and both doors open. To fix this, the iron guy has to return as he is the one who does this. Of course, he is the guy that has been consistently very late with all of his work and who we are now waiting for the remainder of the garage door so it can be locked. Either solution, finish the garage door or move the iron bar on the house door to the garage, both seem to depend on the same guy. I'm sure they will both be fixed on the same day but who knows when that will be. As for the internet, the electrician has known they were coming to install this stuff since the beginning of the project, why weren't the cables running from the roof into the house already there?

Today was frustrating, tomorrow will be better.
