Arrested Development - Ex-Pats Mexico

A newly released study from a Danish institute studying aging, has stated that over 50% of newborns in the wealthy countries now are expected to live past 100 years. They are not sure about 'mobility' problems however.

Good news and not so good news.

Good news is that we can, upon "formal" retirement, expect to have lots of time to develop a second appropriate career, if you will, to do something that we have passion for.

The not so good news, especially if we rely on social security and our own retirement savings (not defined benefit pension), is that we either have to save more for a longer retirement period, or count on working longer. As we get older and more infirm, we will need resources that we may use up in the earlier phase of our retirement period.

Anybody here remember "Soylent Green"? May be appropriate for the not so distant future.....
