A new term that I think means scholarship. I gave some of the kids a ride home from school today and Jania (our wonder 9 year old) gave me a hug and couldn't calm down. She got a BECA and is in primary. She tried to explain how many mil peos but don't think she understood how much or for what period.

For those that missed the rest of the story, Jania couldn't go to school due to no birth certificate. The family didn't have the money or the will (sorry to say) to get a lawyer to go thru what we went thru. We went thru the legal system, got her papers and she finally started a year and 3 months late. Starting late in the year (November) she could not get into the Melaque school system but could in a neighboring town. I drove her every morning and back every afternoon. She's now in Melaque and can ride or walk to school

I almost feel like a proud parent and hope I can help her as far as she wants to go with her education

Just heard that about 10% of the students received these both according to need and grades. Not sure of the amount or how it's dispersed but it's for school supplies and school clothes. We're going shopping in Cihuatlan tomorrow morning

Jania at the water-park about the time she started school 2 years ago

I couldn't believe it but she had to sit home while the rest of the family and neighbors went to school. I didn't realize what happening until grandma told me she was copying all the text off cans and bottles in the kitchen. Then she started taking the kids homework and copying their stuff in their notebooks. That's when grandma kinda came to me for help
